Dassault Systèmes takes over NextLimit Dynamics
On December 13, 2016, Dassault Systèmes announced the signing of a final share purchase agreement to acquire NextLimit Dynamics (Picture NextLimit Dynamics). The company headquartered in Madrid, has developed the software XFlow for flow simulation, which is now to be integrated into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
The solutions for highly dynamic fluid simulation are used, among others, in the aerospace, automotive, high-tech and energy industries. The turnover of NextLimit Dynamics amounted to around 1.6 million euro in 2015. The transaction was completed on December 7, 2016.
With the acquisition, Dassault Systèmes is expanding its industry solutions for multiphysics simulation on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in the area of numerical flow simulation (CFD). The software solutions from NextLimit Dynamics are used by analysts to accurately and meaningfully simulate highly dynamic fluid flows. This makes it possible to solve demanding CFD tasks faster than with conventional methods. Customers include Airbus, AISIN AW, Caterpillar, Doosan, Ford, Google, Honda, Mitsubishi, NASA, Safran Helicopter Engines and Toyota.
NextLimit Dynamics technology is used to predict and improve the performance of complex designs that are exposed to fluid flow. These include, for example, aerodynamic flows behind motor vehicles, aerodynamic noise from aircraft engines or the lubrication of complex drive trains. This approach can help to improve the fuel consumption of a motor vehicle and reduce its emissions, to reduce the environmental noise of aircraft, and to increase the efficiency of wind turbines for power generation.
