For The prostep ivip Symposium, Too, The Motto Now Is: 2020 Better Digital

22.07.2020

Until recently, the prostep ivip association had planned and announced that the symposium would now take place on September 2 and 3 instead of the original May date. Unfortunately this plan had to be abandoned. The current official orders have led the organizer to completely renounce this year that speakers and participants meet in person. Instead, the symposium will take place digitally at the same time. The scope has been adjusted, participation is free of charge.

prostep ivip Symposium goes virtualThe strict regulations for large events - the symposium recently had more than 500 participants from all over the world - would have made it impossible to hold the symposium in the usual manner. Parallel sessions with frequent changes of venue, for example, would have been just as unrealistic as personal discussions with providers and specialists in an accompanying exhibition at open stands. The association now plans to organize the next symposium with personal attendance in 2021. So Corona and the regulations are making it possible.

The virtual symposium will take place on September 2. On September 3, there will be room for digital workshops if necessary. The main event, which will be streamed for a maximum of 5 hours in Studio L of the ICS Stuttgart, will include only a small part of the 48 lectures originally planned. After the opening by the board of directors and the keynotes of the premium sponsors as well as the presentation of the Scientific Award, there will be a maximum of 8 technical papers on the topics MBSE processes, integration and digital consistency, AI/ML and openness. The congress language is English, the speakers come from Germany, Japan and the USA.

There is at least one advantage to the unusual situation, which unfortunately makes it impossible to hold such an important event in the usual setting: participation is free of charge and can be done from home or from the office. So there might be many more participants this year than there were in the past.
