Siemens Acquires FORAN Software For CAD/CAM/CAE In Shipbuilding

Siemens Digital Industries Software announced July 20 that it has acquired the FORAN software business from the Spanish technology and engineering company SENER. SENER Group will retain its traditional marine engineering business. Siemens plans to add FORAN to its Xcelerator portfolio.

Industrie 4.0 Won't Work Without SMEs

The Industrie 4.0 initiative is already ten years old. A platform has been established, standards have been jointly defined and successfully tested. Pilot projects abounded, and numerous approaches are already productive, albeit almost exclusively in the area of production, maintenance and logistics. The fact that no further progress has been made is primarily because SMEs are not on board. In practical terms, the needs of SMEs have not been considered.

Top dialog of the research advisory board of the Industrie 4.0 platform - and where are the SMEs?

Ten years after the launch of the Industrie 4.0 initiative, Professors Kagermann and Wahlster, two of the initiators, had already published an FAZ article at the end of March in which they claimed an all-round success. Now a top dialogue was to confirm this on June 16. And if one reads the FAZ of June 18 to it (and the comments under it not), then this succeeded. If one had tuned in, one saw something else. And the SME sector, the heart of the industry, did not even get a chance to speak.

Siemens buys Nextflow Software

Siemens announced on June 9 that it has acquired Nextflow Software, a provider of solutions for particle-based fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. Nextflow Software becomes part of Siemens Digital Industries Software and expands the Simcenter software portfolio.
