PROSTEP becomes prime contractor for further development and maintenance of Smaragd at Daimler

PLMportal has learned from well-informed sources that PROSTEP AG has been commissioned to act as prime contractor by Daimler for the maintenance and further development of the Smaragd PDM system, effective July 1, 2012.Can you confirm this?

SAP signs Codex of PLM Openness

The Codex of PLM Openness (CPO) attracts increasing attention. After the first 21 subscribers, who were allready presented at ProSTEP iViP Symposium, the ProSTEP iViP association announces four more. Up to now additionally signed the automotive supplier Dräxlmaier, the mainly also as automotive supplier acting Küster Holding, the provider of Managed File Transfer (MFT) solutions Trubiquity, and since today also SAP. With tha the CPO currently has 25 subscribers.

sendler\circle goes multidisciplinary

Ulrich Sendler, Munich, June 6, 2012 – At the thirtieth general meeting of sendler\circle on May 21, 2012 there was again an intensive debate about the challenges that intelligent products pose for IT solutions. One result of this is that the circle is opening even more to IT vendors and service providers from other disciplines, especially software, simulation and services in order to be able to rise to these challenges.

Autodesk PLM 360 – new approach, but not yet a solution for PLM

Autodesk presented PLM 360 at the end of February with the assertion that this cloud-based solution was exactly what suppliers of expensive systems had been promising for years, but had not been able to deliver on. A closer look shows that the approach is indeed interesting, has promise and is forward-looking. But it’s still a long way away from being what industry – at least here – understands under PLM. And development is evidently not aimed at a leading industrial center such as Germany.

ProSTEP iViP Symposium 2012 brings new record results

The ProSTEP iViP Symposium, held from May 9 to 10, 2012, was the most successful one in its 15 years’ history. Impressive (and record) numbers of attendees and exhibitors and an enormous richness of presentations and workshops – this symposium is by far the biggest one among the neutral PLM events in the German-speaking area. And the topic does not seem to be about to lose its pulling power in coming years – quite the contrary.
